The works on the construction of the new sports complex in Corradino have entered in the 2nd phase.

During a site visit on June 28th 2023, Infrastructure Minister Dr Aaron Farrugia and Education and Sports Minister, Dr Clifton Grima, announced that in the coming days, the actual construction of the complex will commence. This sports complex will be the first one of its kind in the Maltese Islands since it will be built according to UEFA and IRB Standards.

This project will cost €8.2 million to complete and will involve the building of a stadium with artificial turf that can hold 650 people. The stadium will be used to host domestic and international rugby and football tournaments. The complex will also include various ancillary facilities such as changing rooms, offices, a conference room, a restaurant, media conference room and parking provisions for visitors and users.

This project is being managed by Projects Plus Limited which from the initial stages, took responsibility for all the administrative and technical works.

The project’s initial phase included the removal of toxic waste from the site and its export.

The construction of the pitch and the parking will commence in the coming days, and it will be followed by the installation of the floodlights and the fencing.
